Minutes of Parish Council Meeting on 11 July 2024  held at Dry Doddington Village Hall at 7.30 pm

Present           Cllrs V Birnage (Chair), T Arnold, A Durham, J Ford, J Forman, B Lett, District Cllr P Wood, the clerk W McCallin and 3 members of the public. 

43/24   Public Forum   Comments were received on current planning.

44/24   Apologies were received from County Cllr A Maughan

45/24   Minutes of the meeting on 9 May were confirmed by council and signed by the Chair.

46/24   Flooding in Westborough in October
Cllrs and Environment Agency (EA) staff walked the River Witham bank and the river bridge on 17 May. The EA may do an obstruction run to clear some debris in the River channel. They will do more modelling and see if funding permits anything other than mowing of the banks. There is a new flood warning system for Westborough area.

47/24   Westborough Lancaster Bomber memorial
Council will contact insurers to find out more about insuring the memorial seat that is on private land but accessed from a bridleway.

48/24   Finance

a) Council approved payments of volunteer mowing expenses of £60 and £75 for Westborough mowing and £38.12 for Dry Doddington mowing, Community Heartbeat Trust for pads £69.54.
Receipt of SKDC cleaner grant of £463.32.
b) Council resolved that reserves for Dry Doddington bus shelter would no longer be earmarked and funds used for other village projects.

49/24   Dry Doddington Village Poors’ Charity Trust
Dawn Broomham resigned as a charity trustee

50/24   Co-option of Parish Councillor

            Dawn Broomham was unanimously co-opted as a Cllr.

51/24   District Councillors report -  District Cllr Wood reported on refusal of solar farms on the best farmland, waste bin collection problems and the new SKDC phone system.

52/24   Clerk’s report   
a) the land registry say Poor’s Land registration will be done by September, b) extra litter bins in Westborough will be followed up, c) a planning update was given.

53/24   Matters for urgent discussion without resolution
After 28 years in the role, the clerk has given notice to resign when a replacement is in post. An advert will be drawn up and applicants sought.

54/24   Date of next meeting confirmed as – Thursday 10 October 2024, 7.30pm, Westborough Village Hall.             The meeting closed at 8.25 pm
